My husband has developed a keen liking for Army surplus. May it be his boots, or jackets, or any of his camping elements, they have all been purchased from military surplus stores. He has a personal liking for military clothing and keeps himself attired in them until it becomes impossible for him to go anywhere with them. I don’t know what enjoyment he gets in those but the reasons which he named for being such a great fan of these clothing are worth admiring and I praise his view points.
The first reason which he stated was that the Army surplus is cheaper only in terms of money and not quality. Well, he is absolutely right because two years back, he had purchased a Camo jacket which he is still wearing and it has not been damaged in any way else than the color of the jacket has faded very lightly, which can be known only on close study. But I had purchased the same kind of jacket from one of the commercial stores, almost at triple the price as he had paid at military store, and it didn’t last even for a year.
The second reason which he stated was the high quality of the materials used in the fabrication of the military clothing. I can’t refuse that he is right here too. Of course, I can’t claim that these are made from branded quality materials but their weathering and tearing takes a long time to be caused. So, it is evident that Army surplus is low priced and has good durability. He cited the example of combat trousers, which are the best casuals for him, if he is not in his office. These trousers have tough stitching in the seams and are designed with numerous pockets for storing sundry items.
He cited a third reason to me but I can’t be satisfied with it because it is the same repetition of the first and second reason cited by him. He named it high quality and high value provided by Army surplus products. He didn’t fail in praising the materials and camouflage schemes which are used in military surplus clothing as these are of immense help to birdwatchers, hunters and anyone who wants to blend in with the wilderness in the pursuit.
